A "Very Big" Success Story from the Day of Silence

Teresa Neumann : May 10, 2008  Jeff Johnson - OneNewsNow

"Then the word went out to my prayer warriors. And they prayed about it ... and last Friday [April 25], we had probably about 250 to 300 parents there."

Ken Hutcherson(Redmond, Washington)—Pastor Ken Hutcherson of Antioch Bible Church in Redmond, Washington, organized a protest with parents of students at Mount Si High School during the recent Day of Silence. He believes it was a "very big success."

According to a OneNewsNow report, Hutcherson and his wife purchased a half-page ad in the local newspaper urging concerned parents and Christians to join them in protest of the event.

"Then the word went out to my prayer warriors. And they prayed about it ... and last Friday [April 25], we had probably about 250 to 300 parents there," he said, adding, "There were 638 kids out of 1,410 kids that didn't come to school that day."

Reporter Jeff Johnson noted that "in addition to 45 percent of the student body that stayed home that day, Hutcherson and other parents convinced the school board to give waivers to student athletes who did not want to be present during the pro-homosexual event. Eighty-five of the school's athletes took advantage of the waiver, and less than 200 of the school's 1,400 students actively participated in the Day of Silence activities."
