Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, President of the World's Largest Hispanic Christian Organization, Says The Choice for the Next U.S. President is "Crystal Clear"

Emily Jones : Oct 28, 2016  CBN News

"Latinos are pro-life. Latinos, whether they be Evangelical or Catholic, must never sacrifice truth on the altar of political expediency… The next president will determine whether or not my children, and my children's children will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached." — Rev. Samuel Rodriguez

(Sacramento, CA) — [CBN News] With just days away from the election Christians across the country met with Hispanic evangelist Samuel Rodriguez to discuss voting, faith and values. Rodriguez says he is not interested in endorsing candidates, but is interested in endorsing issues important to the Latin American community. One of those issues is abortion - something Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton take very opposing views on.

"Latinos are pro-life. Latinos, whether they be Evangelical or Catholic, must never sacrifice truth on the altar of political expediency," Rodriguez said in a statement.

"Secretary Clinton's inability to disavow the grotesque practice of partial birth abortion is truly alarming. The practice has been banned by Congress and by the Supreme Court, and yet she fights on," he told CBN News.

However, although Rodriguez agrees with Trump's pro-life platform, he questions the comments he makes about immigrants.

"Donald Trump's rhetoric about immigrants is indefensible," Rodriguez says. He also expresses disappointment over the Democrat Party's failures with immigration reform. "The Democratic Party's failure to address comprehensive immigration reform when they controlled both houses of congress remains indefensible."

Like many Americans, there is a large population of the undecided in the Latino community. Rodriguez says it's a deep mistrust for both parties that may keep many Hispanics home on Election Day.

"I think many will stay home for a lack of trust in both parties," he says. "It's always an imperfect choice and everyone now has to make theirs. I am hoping that disillusionment with the presidential race does not keep voters from showing up to vote … "

For Rodriguez, all voters must ask themselves a critical question.

"Is this an election we can afford to ignore? Is this an election that is one where we can sit at home and not participate in?

He says what is at stake is the Supreme Court and religious liberty, and American Christians must vote for whoever will protect law and liberty.

"The next president will determine whether or not my children, and my children's children will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached."

"I'm not sure what's left to be said.  The party platforms and the candidates' positions are clear.  On this issue it's crystal clear," he says.
