According to a new NBC News-Wall Street Journal-Marist poll, only 6 percent of blacks plan to support Donald Trump.

Another Quinnipiac poll from June has Trump securing 1 percent of the black vote.

There is no doubt Trump has a core group of African-American supporters but securing the minority vote could be pivotal come November.

To help remedy the issue, Trump has appointed "Apprentice" alumna Omarosa Manigault as director of African-American outreach.

The task of bridging the gap between the Republican nominee and black voters is now in the hands of one his greatest apprentices.

Manigault, who appeared on Trump's television show "The Apprentice," is also an ordained minister.

CBN News spoke with Manigault at the New Spirit Revival Center in Cleveland. She said changing the racial divide in the country must start with current leadership.

"Real change has to happen with our elected officials who are serving right now, who may or may not understand that we are on the verge of a very dangerous moment in American history," she said.

"Whenever you have innocent young boys being shot in their car just because they had a busted tail light, whenever you have police officers who are doing their duty being shot because they left the house thinking 'I'm going to go serve and protect' and they find themselves in a very dangerous situation, we need to call on our leadership who is currently in office," she said.

As far as what Trump can do to sway black voters, Manigault told MSNBC recently he is focused on "improving the conditions of African-Americans in this country."

She said her overall hope for the nation is love.

"I call on the name of Jesus because I believe that prayer changes things. More importantly, prayer changes hearts," she told CBN News.

"So I believe that we have to rise above partisan politics, petty debates and arguments, and unite as the American people," she continued. "We have to put our differences aside. My prayer is that we can come together. And God tells us of hope, faith and love, the greatest of these three things is love."
