Why Would the Pope Select As His Right Hand Science Expert—A Man Who Doesn't Believe In A Personal God?

On June 18th, Pope Francis released his encyclical on the environment, climate change and other global topics; and it immediately began a stir, especially among those who don't buy in to every urgent plea by environmentalists on global warming. (Photo via Breitbart.com)

The pontiff's climate change letter—according to Forbes, containing 38,000 words—sounded alarms regarding the temperature of the earth, among other things, using a desperation that one might expect coming from the mouth of Al Gore.

"This sister [Earth] now cries out to us..." wrote Pope Francis.

But considering one of his newly appointed picks for the Pontifical Academy of Science (the Pope's arsenal of scientists who act as official advisers to the Vatican), maybe we shouldn't be surprised at all.

That pick would be Hans Joachim Schellnhuber; more a pantheist than an atheist, as described in a recent Stream.org article.

Schellnhuber reportedly subscribes to the "Gaia Principle," which maintains that "Mother Earth is alive" and "cognizant..." and that the "universe itself is god, and Earth is at least semi-divine" according to an explanation in the Stream.org report.

His thinking includes the idea that life on earth can affect various earthquakes and such, not the other way around.

According to the Stream.org report, Schellnhuber co-authored a paper in 2004, published in the journal Nature, titled: "Climbing the co-evolution ladder," which reportedly suggests that mankind is an infection, and "perturbs... the global 'metabolism'" of planet Earth.

Here's Schellnhuber regarding population control: "All I said was that if we had unlimited global warming of eight degrees warming, maybe the carrying capacity of the earth would go down to just 1 billion, and then the discussion would be settled."

This is a trusted advisor to Pope Francis, and apparently the pontiff is really listening to him.

One of Francis' latest tweets, which according to Forbes went viral in a big way, said, "The earth, our home is beginning to look more and more like an immense pile of filth."

Well okay, I DO see that when I look at the sickening genocide and ruining of human life, and the destruction of historical Biblical landmarks by the likes of ISIS... just sayin.'
