As Debbie was driving to work on Thursday morning, she noticed a black car, similar to what had been described on the news she was watching before she'd left. Pulling alongside the vehicle, she saw a "very young man" with a "bowl-cut" (haircut) and realized that it could actually be the gunman who had shot and killed 9 people the night before.

Her tip, and then her help in confirming what she'd seen, led police directly to the gunman.

The hosts of Fox and Friends spoke with Debbie on Friday morning about her part in apprehending the killer.

"I'm calling it divine intervention—I believe God had a plan in it," said Debbie.

Upon seeing the vehicle and Dylann inside, Debbie admitted, "I got a little nervous, I'm not a hero and I'm not brave... but I just started talking to the Lord about it... I wasn't sure it was him and I didn't want to get anyone else in trouble."

Debbie called her boss, who called authorities. On the phone with the police, Debbie was told to catch up with Dylann's car if possible to confirm whether it was indeed him.

"I was able to get right behind him and get his tag number... it was him," she told the Fox and Friends crew.

Host Elisabeth Hasselbeck told Debbie, "You are a hero. I know you're not saying you are one, but there was such unrest around the country after hearing that 9 people were killed by this man, in a church while they were praying... do you ask God, 'Why me?'"

"Oh I'm not the hero, God's the hero... He just used me," replied Debbie. "If we are a willing vessel, He can use us, but we've got to open up our hearts and minds. I don't know why He chose me... but He's got to be glorified in all—in everything—and He's going to get the glory one way or the other... and I hope He's pleased with me. I want Him to be pleased with me more than anyone else."

As host Steve Doocy pointed out, Dylann would've driven past hundreds of cars from the time of the shooting till the time he was spotted by Debbie, and she was the one who alerted police and helped to confirm it was him. "It looks like... God put you in the right place at the right time..."

"Oh He did," agreed Debbie, "And that's the kind of God that I serve, that's my God..."
