And while much of the spotlight has been dominated by Marshawn Lynch's terse responses—ad nauseum—of, "I'm only here so I won't get fined"; left tackle, Russell Okung had something much more meaningful to share. Okung is the son of Nigerian Christians who came to America before he was born. He spoke to Breitbart Sports about his heart of compassion for the people of his parents' homeland, and fellow Believers in Nigeria who have suffered greatly in recent months at the hands of the terrorist organization Boko Haram. "I will continue to pray for those people sacrificing their lives day-in, and day-out for what they believe in," Okung told reporters. According to Breitbart, Russell Okung was a first-round pick for Seattle in 2009, coming out of Oklahoma State. The now Super Bowl-bound player unashamedly cited his faith in God's plan for Christians and a word of hope for Nigerian Believers who are suffering... "My message for those dying [for] what they believe in—stay steadfast and [rooted in] God and [He] has you in His palm of His hand." Okung added, "Our hope isn't in this world, as Believers, it's in the eternity. To be absent of body is to be present with the Lord, so they are dying for something that is real and will last forever."
