Meriam Ibrahim Encourages Naghmeh Abedini, wife of Pastor in Iranian Prison, to "Stay Strong for Her Children""Do not fear; be strong. Take care of your kids and the Lord will be with you." -Meriam Ibrahim EDITOR'S NOTE: Praise God for our brothers and sisters-in-the-Lord; like Pastors Saeed and Farshid, and the Vicar of Baghdad, and Naghmeh and Meriam, who are fixed in their faith in the midst of great persecution. In these times in which we're living, I find their stand to be such a source of encouragement. Let us all—myself included—not forget to pray for them continually! -Aimee Herd, BCN. (Washington, DC)—Meriam Ibrahim, who was recently brought to America from those who sought her life in Sudan because of her Christian faith, spoke alongside her husband Daniel Wani, at a Values Voter Summit Gala. (Photo: Meriam Ibrahim and husband Daniel/via Christian Post) Meriam was awarded the first ever "Cost of Discipleship" award by the Family Research Council. Through an interpreter, Meriam spoke directly to Naghmeh Abedini—imprisoned Pastor Saeed's wife—encouraging her and calling her "sister." "Do not fear; be strong," said Meriam to Naghmeh. "Take care of your kids and the Lord will be with you." (Photo: Naghmeh Abedini) Meriam also shared about her experience in the Sudanese jail, where she and her toddler son, Martin were held, even as she gave birth to her daughter, Maya, in chains. Her husband was only allowed to visit them for 10 minutes each time, Meriam said in the Christian Post report. "That was the most difficult time for me because Martin would want to go with him and grab on to him and I would stand there unable to do anything because he's a child," described Meriam. "He didn't understand why he was in jail through no fault of his. He didn't understand why kids were able to play outside and enjoy themselves and be with their parents, their fathers and mothers." Meriam said she would tell her son, "Do not be sad; you must be proud of your mother. I am not a criminal. The Lord is with us."
