Man Survives being Buried Beneath 600 Pounds of Dirt; Shouted Prayers during Ordeal"He is a very religious guy" -Danny Russu's co-worker
His co-workers were reportedly able to immediately remove enough dirt to allow Russu to breath. One of the men told KATU News that Russu is "a very religious guy, and he was shouting prayers," as they worked to free him. "It was actually a very, very dangerous trench," one of the first emergency responders, told KOIN News of the 12-ft. deep hole. "If there was a significant collapse, he would have been in severe danger." Incredibly, after being buried beneath 600 pounds of dirt for nearly 4 hours, Russo, was finally freed. Currently, he has been listed in serious condition at Legacy Emmanuel Hospital.
