The assault reportedly began early on Tuesday morning, as the terrorists shot some of the pupils, cutting the throats and burning the others.

One military spokesman noted that "details are still sketchy due to lack of telephone access, and it is still not clear how many students were affected in the attack."

He added that his men were "in pursuit of the killers."

The Boko Haram Islamic terrorist group (the name means "western education is sinful" made two attacks last week, one on February 15th that effectively destroyed a mostly Christian village, forcing some 10,000 residents to flee.
