Power to over 725,000 customers in five states has been knocked out.

Last night, Hurricane Isaac slammed into Louisiana, making its presence known throughout the Gulf Coast with 80 mph winds and drenching rainfall.

While Isaac has, today, been downgraded from a category 1 hurricane to a tropical storm, its destructive nature is far from over, according to a CNN report.

A 2:40PM ET update noted that power to more than 725,000 customers in five states had been knocked out.

Although the storm will eventually help the Midwest states suffering from drought, it is delivering quite a wallop to residents in the Gulf Coast right now.

Interestingly enough, Isaac hit Louisiana on the eve of the 7-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
