According to the Justice Department, Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick and her brother, Edwin Cherfilus, allegedly stole $5 million in FEMA funds and funneled it through different accounts to pay for the defendant's 2021 congressional campaign.

As The New York Post reported, Democrat Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick of Florida was found guilty of more than two dozen ethics violations by the The House Ethics Committee today.

The House Ethics Committee found Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) broke campaign finance laws and committed other violations by taking more than $5 million in federal relief and funneling much of the money toward her political aspirations.
An eight-member subcommittee voted early Friday that Cherfilus-McCormick was "guilty" of 25 counts related to the scheme following a rare public "trial" that stretched for more than six hours the night before.
