"Arkansans are known for their warm hospitality, and while that restaurant certainly doesn't meet that standard, my administration will continue to focus on lifting Arkansans up, not tearing others down with discrimination and hate." -Governor Sarah Huckabee

[ToddStarnes.com] The owner of a popular restaurant in Little Rock, Arkansas ordered Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave because her presence made the staff feel "threatened and uncomfortable" due to her political beliefs. (Screengrab image: via YouTube-Glam Inc)

Gov. Sanders, a Republican, had been dining with two other moms at The Croissanterie. The governor was also accompanied by her State Police detail. Her party had been served and their meals paid for when the owner approached and told the governor to get out.

"The owner approached a member of the State Police Executive Protection Detail and said my presence made their employees feel threatened and told us to leave," Sanders said.

The governor and her lunch party complied but as they were leaving the staff became even more enraged. Someone in the restaurant shouted, "It's time to go" and another extended his middle finger.

One of the staffers wrote on his Facebook page about the incident and directed a message to the governor: "No amount of evil you send our way can ever take our smiles away. I'm proud AF to work here. I'm proud AF to be gay and I'm proud AF to be an Arkansan."

The restaurant released a lengthy statement saying they were "surprised and uncertain how best to respond" when the governor showed up.

"As business owners and members of this community, we recognized that any course of action carried consequences," the owners wrote in a statement to CBS News. "Allowing her to stay risked being perceived as a lack of support for the community that makes up the majority of our team, as well as their families and friends. Conversely, asking her to leave could be viewed as denying service based on differing beliefs."

So, the owners decided to give the governor the heave-ho.

"Ultimately, we made the decision to support our employees and guests who expressed they were uncomfortable," the owners wrote.

Gov. Sanders was gracious in her rebuke of the rude and intolerant behavior she experienced at The Croissanterie.

"Arkansans are known for their warm hospitality, and while that restaurant certainly doesn't meet that standard, my administration will continue to focus on lifting Arkansans up, not tearing others down with discrimination and hate," the governor said.

In 2018 Sanders, who was then the White House press secretary, was kicked out of a posh restaurant in Lexington, Virginia. A co-owner of the Red Hen asked Sanders and her family to leave as a protest against the Trump administration.

Every freedom-loving patriot in Little Rock should spend the weekend manning picket lines outside The Croissanterie. And might I suggest that Gov. Sanders consider dining at a restaurant that serves biscuits, rather than croissants? Southern hospitality is a bit more down home than French hospitality.
