"The government [is] withholding every single one of our donations because we are not a part of FEMA or the Red Cross, so none of this is eligible for giving out...Why?..."

Apparently, in some cases donated supplies are not reaching those who desperately need them.
One frustrated person videoed wrapped supplies that had been donated, just sitting untouched. He explained, "The government [is] withholding every single one of our donations because we are not a part of FEMA or the Red Cross, so none of this is eligible for giving out...Why?..."
"...People here are suffering, there's not enough supplies, there's not enough food, there's not enough water. There's not enough gas or propane," said another person who is helping victims in his own home. "There are people who are trying to bring these things in as we speak ... they are getting turned away ... [the government is] denying people access to bring in supplies ... the state is failing us again."
In addition to the governmental roadblocks to provisions, there have been numerous reports of Maui residents receiving suspicious calls offering to buy their land.
"I'm so frustrated with investors and realtors calling the families who lost their homes ... How dare you!," said a TikTok poster.
A 9-year Maui resident told of how valuable the land in Lahaina is, and how Hawaiians for many years have held onto it.
"...Lahaina, Front St. is worth billions," he noted. "The Hawaiians that have been holding out ... for years not wanting to sell their property in Lahaina to these big, million-dollar companies. It is NOT a coincidence."
The viral video ends with the clip of Biden saying "No comment" when asked about his response to the devastation on Maui.
