"He wasn't crucified against His will, against God's will. He surrendered Himself to that kind of punishment to take our punishment on Himself so that we could receive what we don't deserve and that is His grace." -Archaeologist Joel Kramer

Place where Jesus was judged

Archaeologist Joel Kramer went to the place that was believed to be the place where Jesus was judged by Pontius Pilate and explained the connections between their discovery and the Bible. As they studied the Scripture and the map of the former Jerusalem, they discovered Pontius Pilate's judgment seat.

"This is where Pontius Pilate would speak to the people, where he would sit on his judgment seat," Joel explained.

The Gospel of John was the ancient text that was used to explain these discoveries.

"This fitting between the Gospel of John and what was found in the excavations that he took part in is why Dr. Gibson interprets this place as being Biblical Gabbatha."

Gospel of John

Some of the verses that were used to explain this place were John 18:28-29, 33, 38, John 19: 1-2, 4-6, 8-9, 12-13, 16, and Luke 23:26. In addition to Pontius Pilate's judgment seat, the archaeologists also discovered a part of the King Herod's palace, where the flogging of Jesus Christ took place.

"Another amazing place that nobody comes to. And yet, of course, it's not about the Jews crucifying Jesus, it's not about the Romans crucifying Jesus. It's about all of us, who crucified Jesus. Because we've all fallen short of the glory of God. We're all sinners in need of the forgiveness and the atonement of the Blood of Jesus."

What's important about this discovery is the fact that it is a part of Jesus' journey to save us all.

"He wasn't crucified against His will, against God's will. He surrendered Himself to that kind of punishment to take our punishment on Himself so that we could receive what we don't deserve and that is His grace." Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
