'I Had to Do Something About It': Former Teacher Joins Other Parents in Running for Local School Boards

"If we don't step in now, it may be too far gone, because as I've continued to research, I've found that this movement is not something new. We are just now aware, and I think ours is a last-ditch effort to save our schools. If we don't hold the line, then it will never go back to the way it was." -Jessica Cook of Weddington, North Carolina, running for a seat on the Union County Board of Education
Crissy Pratt is a North Carolina parent, and a former teacher. Like many parents across the country, she became aware of the 'woke' agenda infused with her children's curriculum during the Covid lockdown. (Screengrab image)
According to an Epoch Times report, Pratt, with 10 years teaching experience, and 12 in online education, began watching some of the live-streamed school board meetings for her county.
She was angered by what she saw.
"By the end of most meetings I was screaming at the television. None of the board members were talking about what was best for kids, or how to better educate them and improve their test scores," Pratt told the Epoch Times.
Worse than that was what she found upon examining her son's homework.
From the Epoch Times report:
Her son was taking honors-level classes for both U.S. history and world history and hadn't learned about the American Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World War I, World War II, or the Holocaust, Pratt said ...
While the board has denied teaching CRT, Pratt said she's aware of several concepts being taught, such as linking gun violence to "white privilege," the tenet of the oppressor versus the oppressed, and the idea that a child can choose his or her own gender.
Pratt told the Times, "...This is messy and ugly and it's getting uglier. But I also feel that as a parent and educator, I just couldn't sit on the sidelines anymore. I had to do something about it." (Screengrab image)
The report revealed that Crissy Pratt is one of five candidates who've been endorsed by an initiative in their county, known as Take Back Our Schools. The purpose is to become a local arm of the current national trend of concerned parents investigating 'harmful school policies' on behalf of their children and grandchildren.
Indeed, it behooves each one of us to at least ask ourselves what positive actions we can take (in addition to prayer) to restore our schools' curricula to that which teaches ALL of history, both good and bad; as well as the necessary instruction of math, English and sciences, minus the political brainwashing of CRT and gender-fluid agenda.
Not all of us will have the time to serve on a local school board, but some of us may. Others can support their efforts in other ways.
For what it's worth, I am asking myself this same question, as I truly believe our schools are not beyond hope. For the sake of our children, grandchildren and future generations—as Crissy Pratt declared—we cannot 'sit on the sidelines anymore.' Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
