[Faithwire.com] Law enforcement authorities confirmed over the weekend they discovered a body matching the description of 22-year-old travel blogger Gabby Petito. (Screengrab image)

During a news conference Sunday evening, the FBI revealed agents discovered a body in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Moose, Wyoming, that is "consistent with the description of" Gabby Petito.

"Earlier today, human remains were discovered consistent with the description of Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Petito," said FBI Supervisory Agent Charles Jones. "The cause of death has not been determined at this time."

On Monday morning, the FBI executed a "court-authorized search warrant" at the North Port, Florida, home of Brian Laundrie, Gabby Petito’s fiancé and a person of interest in the case. Laundrie’s whereabouts have been unknown since last Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the FBI said the agency’s "thoughts and prayers are with" the Petito family, adding, "We ask that you all respect the privacy as they mourn the loss of their daughter."

Petito’s father, Joseph, posted a brief but poignant tweet Sunday evening after learning his young daughter’s body had been found.
