[SamaritansPurse.org] Samaritan's Purse recently deployed our DC-8 cargo jet loaded with medical kits, hygiene kits, and other items to the region to assist those who have already been evacuated from Afghanistan. The plane also carried members of our disaster assistance response team (DART), including medical personnel, to provide additional capacity to medical facilities that are treating the sick and suffering. The world has been shocked in recent days by the ongoing images of chaos at Kabul's airport as many tens of thousands of desperate people, including American citizens, try to escape the Taliban. These Islamic extremists are poised to force Afghanistan back into a dark and brutal state where Christians, anyone who associated with Americans, women, and others face severe persecution and death. Some of our brothers and sisters in Christ are running from place to place, trying to stay safe.

Disaster Relief for Victims of Hurricane Ida
Hurricane Ida brutalized southeastern Louisiana Aug. 29 and early Aug. 30, leaving at least one person dead and knocking out the power for more than 1 million people, including the entire city of New Orleans. Fierce winds caused extensive damage while heavy rains and storm surge brought severe flooding, which remains an ongoing threat for the region. (Screengrab image)
Samaritan's Purse is rushing to help homeowners in need. Staff members and three Disaster Relief Units—tractor trailers filled with equipment and supplies—along with other vehicles have been deployed to hurricane-battered areas. Our first base is being established in Houma, Louisiana, at First Baptist Church. Our other two bases will be announced soon.
As relief centers are established in partnership with local churches, volunteer teams will clear yards, patch roofs, and clean out flooded homes. For more information on how you can be part of our deployments, see SPVolunteer.org.
The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team will be accompanying our teams to minister to these communities. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
