IFA: Electors Choose the President of the US and They Need Prayer

Intercessors For America

Yes, we must pray and vote, but we cannot stop there. We must intercede and claim the electoral votes for the Kingdom of God and that the delegates will align with the Word of God.

[IFAPray.org] At his inauguration, Ulysses S. Grant asked for every American citizen to pray for him and "to do his share toward cementing a happy union; and I ask the prayers of the nation to Almighty God in behalf of this consummation." May we remember the importance of that request then for now. We need to pray to God for our nation and pray for our leaders.

1 Tm 2:1-4 instructs, Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (Jas 5:16). Our prayers will produce awesome results.

Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in Heaven. For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them. (Mt 18:19-20)

While it's necessary we pray for our leaders and vote righteously, the vote we cast for president doesn't exactly determine who becomes president.

For that, we must look at the Electoral College. You may have read recently where the Supreme Court protected this institution..

What is the Electoral College?

It is a group of people who elect the president and the vice president of the United States. In this instance, college, refers to an organized body of people working together for a common task.

As voters head to the polls on election day, they will not vote for the presidential candidates directly. At least not by popular vote. They will vote for specific people known as the electors.

Each state has a certain number of electoral votes, based on their population.

The electors are appointed by the political parties in each state.

Here is how it works, if you vote for Donald J. Trump and he ends up winning the popular vote in your state, the electors chosen by the Republican party for your state will then cast votes for him in their state capital on the first Monday after the second Wednesday in December. So, on Election Day, we are electing the electors who elect the president. Sounds odd, I know.

There are 538 electoral votes. It takes at least 270 electoral votes to win the presidency.

Each state has at least three electoral votes. California has the most electoral votes at 55. Texas is next with 38. New York and Florida, each have 29.

Yes, we must pray and vote, but we cannot stop there. We must intercede and claim the electoral votes for the Kingdom of God and that the delegates will align with the Word of God.

Taking Our States for God

Jeremiah 29:7 says we are to seek the peace of our place of residence.

Furthermore, God says our peace will be found in the peace of our city. I think we can all agree with this. If our city or state is in turmoil, it is difficult to live in peace.

And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace. (Jer 29:7)

Isaiah 62:6-7, in speaking of our cities, says; I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes.

This is our place of prayer for the upcoming electoral votes. We must take our place as watchmen on the wall. We must cry out day and night until God establishes righteousness in our cities, our states, and our nation.

God's Word over us and our nation is found in Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

God's plan for our nation, our state, and our community is one of peace, a good future and great hope. As we pray, may He establish HIS Word in our nation. Also, don't just pray for the election. Pray for the electors—the delegates who will cast their votes afterwards as we also pray for our nation and leaders.

Personal Prayer Points

National Prayer Points

Do not let this prayer stop with "Amen."

Ask God if there is anything else you can do to cultivate righteousness in our nation, or in your state. Don't just pray. Vote. Vote in line with God's Word and His will. Encourage your friends and family to do the same.

Gather a group of friends and pray over the electoral votes in your state. Begin now. Claim every single electoral vote for God. Let's remember, one person can make a difference, let that one be you. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
