The pay contribution, which totals some $100,000, will be paid to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health and has been allocated "to continue the ongoing fight against the opioid crisis," according to a government official. By law, Trump has to be paid while in office. However, acknowledging his vast personal wealth accumulated prior to entering the White House, he has pledged to give away his Presidential earnings to various government-mandated causes. According to the Associated Press, the President donated his second-quarter salary to the Surgeon General's office.
