"Without US leadership, our partners and allies would be vulnerable to bad actors at the UN.This is particularly true in the case of Israel, which is the subject of unrelenting bias and hostility in UN venues. The United States will never accept such bias. If confirmed, I commit to seizing every opportunity to shine a light on this conduct, call it what it is, and demand that these outrageous practices finally come to an end." -Kelly Craft

(Washington, DC) — [JNS.org] Nearly four months after being nominated, Kelly Craft—US President Donald Trump's pick to replace Nikki Haley as US Ambassador to the United Nations—vowed on Wednesday to fight the international body's anti-Israel bias, in addition to calling out anti-Semitism. "Without US leadership, our partners and allies would be vulnerable to bad actors at the UN. This is particularly true in the case of Israel, which is the subject of unrelenting bias and hostility in UN venues," she said in her opening testimony to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. "The United States will never accept such bias. If confirmed, I commit to seizing every opportunity to shine a light on this conduct, call it what it is, and demand that these outrageous practices finally come to an end."

Craft, 57, served as a US alternate delegate to the United Nations under US President George Bush and currently serves as US Ambassador to Canada, where she has been focused on trade issues, including the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement.

The Kentucky native and her husband, Joe, who is a coal magnate, are major Republican donors, and close to fellow Kentuckian and US Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Craft also said that "it is not acceptable" for the Security Council to be biased against Israel and be anti-Semitic.

She added that "there will be no stronger friend of Israel" and calling out anti-Semitism at the world body "than Kelly Craft."

Moreover, Craft said "there's no place" for the United Nations to establish a blacklist of businesses that work with or are in Israel, an effort by some to further the anti-Israel BDS movement.

"We need to promote Israel," she said. "They're the best promoters themselves."

Finally, she said that Iran has the "most corrosive behavior."

Wednesday's remarks on Israel were her first known public comments pertaining to the US-Israel relationship.

The UN ambassadorship is expected to be downgraded from a Cabinet-level position. Subscribe for free to Breaking Christian News here
