"One of the best unintended consequences for us was that when people 'tweet,' about God, and about their religious experience, they share that with all the people in their circle of influence who are disconnected from God and His Church?"

Recently, TIME magazine featured an article about the latest social-networking trend called Twitter. Included in the piece was a side note on how even the Church is using the abbreviated messaging sensation.
CBN News interviewed one of the pastors who was featured in the article, Pastor Jared Kirk of Next Level Church in Matthews, NC.
When asked about the TIME inclusion, Pastor Kirk said, "It was really exciting for us. I think, when the Church does its best to engage with the culture in ways that aren't counter to the Bible, people are surprised by that for some reason. We think it's a great opportunity to reach out to people outside the four walls of the church."
Kirk reportedly encourages his congregation to "tweet" on Twitter regarding what that person is experiencing during the service, and how it is impacting them in their relationship with God.
"We've had very good feedback," noted Kirk. "Because, at Next Level Church, we're always encouraging people to take that next step in their relationship with God. So, even people who may not be comfortable with 'tweeting,' or 'twittering,' are still really positive about it. They know it has the ability to impact people who wouldn't normally come to church."
Pastor Kirk added, "One of the best unintended consequences for us was that when people 'tweet,' about God, and about their religious experience, they share that with all the people in their circle of influence who are disconnected from God and His Church. It's been a great conversation starter for us."
