"I have witnessed the incredible transformation that takes place when athletes and coaches give their time, talents and hearts fully to Christ."
Parents know one of the challenges of summer is keeping your child active and busy while they're not in school. Boredom can become dangerous if it persists.
One good opportunity is for young people to attend one of the sports camps put on by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
According to an article in the Christian Post, FCA offers a wide range of sports and team camps for young people ages 8 through 18. (Photo: FCAcamps.org)
The variety of camp activities include: baseball, basketball, football, golf, cheerleading, karate, surfing and more, all with an emphasis on being a Believer in Jesus Christ.
This year's theme is "Inside Out." Dan Britton, senior vice president of Ministries for FCA, explains, "'Inside Out' is about transformation, and it can only start by looking in the heart. As much as you desire to change behavior, it will never stick unless you change the inside. There needs to be a renovation. Before you begin to think about changing the world ... or your teammates, first you need to change. Being an ‘Inside Out' Christian is about sacrifice, commitment and surrender."
FCA reportedly offers leadership camps for coaches and leaders as well as its youth camps.
FCA Camps President and CEO Les Steckel noted that he's "witnessed the incredible transformation that takes place when athletes and coaches give their time, talents and hearts fully to Christ."
