"I can't change the world, but piping up made for a change in one tiny corner of mine!"
In a short but clever Stoplight video presentation, Focus Action's Stuart Shepard reveals his latest motivation for shoppers to take a stand for "Christmas" by "tossing" (in the recycling) any store's catalogue that refuses to acknowledge the actual name for the holiday their sales are celebrating. He calls it "Merry Tossmas."
At one point, Shepard reminds retailers that bland messages—such as: "Happy Everything" and "Season's Greetings"—won't endear customers to their store who are celebrating Christmas; and buying presents. But the stores, who will at least respect the holiday enough to call it by its name, will probably fare much better.
According to a Citizen Link report, one shopper from Sacramento was shopping at her favorite grocery store when she noticed a bin with a sign that read; "Holiday Wreaths." She reportedly told the manager, in a respectful way, that she could not spend money in a store that avoided the name of Christmas. She told Citizen Link that the manager agreed to change the sign right away, and before she even left, it read; "Christmas Wreaths."
"I can't change the world, but piping up made for a change in one tiny corner of mine!" said the shopper, and regarding the Stoplight video, she added, "Thank you for the inspiration to quit being a whiny bench warmer."
