"We've gotten a tremendous response and we're going to try and hold it at $50 (thousand) but some of the essays we've gotten are just heart wrenching and really make you think."
(St. Louis, Mo.)—Dr. E. Glenn Glassman is holding an essay contest to give away more than 50 thousand dollars in free braces, according to KSDK News. He and his orthodontic partner, Dr. Christine Brinley, are offering their services.
"It just breaks my heart to think that they [children with misaligned teeth] have to go through life like that," said Dr. Brinley.
Both doctors, of Orthocare Systems Orthodontics, were quoted as saying every child should be screened for braces between the ages of seven and nine.
Said Glassman, "In this type of economy it is very difficult for many people to afford the necessary treatment for their kids at the proper time. We've gotten a tremendous response and we're going to try and hold it at $50 (thousand) but some of the essays we've gotten are just heart wrenching and really make you think."
