"She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility?"
Breaking Christian News has chosen throughout this election season to remain non-partisan?with the unapologetic exception of support for life and family-values issues. As we would send out an alert for prayers of comfort for President Bush or Sen. McCain if warranted, we likewise send this prayer alert on behalf of the family of Sen. Barack Obama, as his grandmother passed away today.
Madelyn Dunham, who was 86, was visited by her grandson, Barack, last month, when he left the campaign trail briefly to be by her side in Hawaii. Dunham died this morning, after a prolonged battle with cancer.
According to reports, Dunham was an integral part of the now presidential candidate's upbringing. Sen. Obama and his sister issued a joint statement in light of the news today, saying, "She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances."
