(France)—According to an AP report on CBN's Christian World News, French Nun, Sister Emmanuelle died in her sleep on Monday; she was 99.
Born in Belgium, Sister Emmanuelle was known for her ministry to the garbage-dwellers of Cairo, Egypt, with whom her choice to live for years, compared her to Mother Theresa.  (AFP/File photo)
The beloved nun reportedly helped to create "a network of clinics, schools and gardens, to serve the children of the slums."
Co-founder of the humanitarian aid group Doctors Without Borders, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, stated that he'd never forget Sister Emmanuelle's "faith, which could move mountains."
French President, Nicolas Sarkozy said of Sister Emmanuelle, she was a "woman of action for whom charity meant concrete actions of solidarity and fraternity."
