"…With the Good Lord's help, we're going to raise a lot of money to help a lot of children."
(Indianapolis, Indiana)—Jim Clark, athlete, entrepreneur, and Founder, Chairman and CEO of the Indianapolis based retirement planning firm Jim Clark and Associates, has announced that he will swim the English Channel to raise money for disadvantaged children.
Clark regarding the event: "Every five seconds a disadvantaged child dies from malnutrition. That's the reason for this event. With the Good Lord's help, we're going to raise a lot of money to help a lot of children."
Commenting on the event, Larry Whitlock, Vice Chairman of the company said, "There are over three billion people on the earth. Fewer than 1,000 have swum the English Channel since 1875. In fact, more people have climbed Mt. Everest than have swum the channel. Swimming the English Channel is tough duty. That doesn't matter to Jim Clark. If he says he's going to swim the English Channel to raise money for disadvantaged children, he'll swim the English Channel to raise money for disadvantaged children; it's just that simple."
The Channel swim will be the focal point of a three-part event sponsored by the organization.
The first event is the Swimming for the Children Scholarship: In October, 2008, Jim Clark and Associates will launch the Swimming for the Children Scholarship SM. High school and college students nationwide will have an opportunity to raise money for disadvantaged children. The purpose of the scholarship is to introduce young people to philanthropic endeavors, and to give them an opportunity to earn a scholarship. The project will be a real time demonstration of a very basic fundamental, that is, the surest way to get what you need is to help someone else get what he needs.
The next event is the Swimming for the Children English Channel Expedition: Sometime between September 24, 2009, and October 1, 2009, Jim Clark will swim the English Channel to raise money for disadvantaged children. The purpose of the swim will be to raise awareness of the fact that every five seconds a disadvantaged child dies of malnutrition.
And finally the Swimming for the Children International Telethon: In December, 2009, Jim Clark and Associates will sponsor the Swimming for the Children International Telethon SM. The purpose of the telethon will be to raise $30,000,000.00 for disadvantaged children.
