Recent studies have shown that parental notification laws can help curtail the number of abortions performed in a state.
(California, US)—According to a new poll in California, most constituents would support Proposition 4—a ballot measure that would require parental notification, but not consent, before a minor could proceed in getting an abortion.
The numbers showed that 49% of Californians are in favor of the measure, while 41% oppose it. The poll also revealed that most Latinos support Prop. 4.
The CBN News report stated that those voters who favor the law believe parents have the right to know that their minor daughter is seeking an abortion.
One resident, Velma McIntire said, "I've had friends and relatives who had an abortion at a young age and they are going through so much counseling now. If a mom has gone through that and their daughters are pregnant, they can say, 'You know? Been there, done that.' So I'm real passionate about that."
