As on the day of Pentecost, Leicester—like Jerusalem—was filled with people from almost every nation under Heaven and as in Jerusalem, the people of Leicester heard the Gospel, praise and testimonies in their own native Language.
(Leicester, UK)—Hundreds of Christians from the City and County of Leicestershire in the heart of the UK came together to proclaim the good news of the Gospel during a five-hour rally held in Leicester City center last Saturday.
There was a real sense of unity and oneness among the Believers as they encouraged shoppers and curious on lookers to "come just as you are" to listen to the preaching, testimonies and prayer for healing and salvation.
The open air outreach, the second to be held in the City, followed twelve months of preparation and prayer by a committed steering group and coalition of international fellowships bringing together Christians of various denominational differences and nationalities reflecting Leicester's diverse cosmopolitan cultural status.
The prayers were heard and answered, none more so than the prayers for the weather following a washout summer for the UK, one of the wettest since records began.
The only cloud present on Saturday was the great cloud of witnesses surrounding the faithful.
Paul Hall, Chairman of the Jesus Loves Leicester steering committee, described the day as "wonderful". He told Assist news, "For the first twenty minutes we were running to schedule and then the Holy Spirit came down".
As on the day of Pentecost, Leicester like Jerusalem was filled with people from almost every nation under Heaven and as in Jerusalem, the people of Leicester heard the Gospel, praise and testimonies in their own native Language.
A puppet show for younger members of the audience delighted young and old alike as children giggled with delight as their parents stood near by listening to the Gospel and enjoying the temporary break from their over-heated youngsters.
On the main stage a group of four young black "rap evangelists" attracted an impressive number of young teenagers when they began to share the love of Jesus through their music. The group's unique style of singing Amazing Grace reached the souls of several young people who listened intently. The captivated audience cried out for an encore and after an unexpected second session several of the young people made their way to the prayer tent and received Christ.
During day three, the young "rap evangelists" were seen in a lengthy conversation with two devout Muslims as they shared their faith in God through Jesus Christ.
Two young men aged 18 and 19 touched many of the listeners as one shared how he was tormented by alcohol abuse, while the other was a slave to a heavy dependency on hard drugs. Both souls were set free through the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross, their faith in Him, and the forgiveness of their sins and the word of their testimony.
David Brougham who lives in the city and was in the crowd said "What was really encouraging was to see so many young people on the streets of the city center boldly sharing their faith." Many of the young people dressed in their "Jesus loves Leicestershire" T-shirts mingled among the crowds.
There was rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God as twenty-nine souls prayed sincere prayers of Salvation or rededicated their lives to Christ alongside counselors in the prayer tent.
Mike Howitt of Leicester Healing Rooms ministry described the outreach as amazing. "The first thing that impressed upon me was the unity of the churches working together for the purpose of preaching the Kingdom and healing the sick as Jesus commanded us to do."
Planning and prayers for next year's outreach has already begun as Christians in the heart of the UK pray and believe for the multitudes to be saved.
