"After the catch I fell to my knees and began to worship and thank God." –David Tyree
(New York)—2007 was a great year to be a NY Giants fan. Who could forget the incredible catch, by wide receiver David Tyree that seemed so impossible, but which ultimately helped the "underdog" Giants to a 17-14 Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots.

But it wasn't the first miracle for David Tyree.
Earlier in his NFL career, at one of the lowest parts of his life, Tyree—having been fined by his team for being late for team meetings—was not just drinking and using, but also selling marijuana in an attempt to clear up the financial turmoil he was in.
"It was one bad decision after another," Tyree told Alan Colmes, on a recent edition of the Hannity and Colmes show. "I found that money intensified every dark place in my life," he added.
After living a lifestyle where blacking out from alcohol was common, and finally ending up in jail; Tyree reached out to the Lord saying, "God, all I know is that I need You."
According to a NY Times article, David found out his wife was pregnant when he was released from jail. He said, "I put her through a lot. That's a whole story in itself, in my years at Syracuse. She basically said she couldn't do it anymore, and if we're going to do this, we're going to do this. So I took one of those big old gulps, and I said O.K. She had a Bible laying on the bed. I went down to pick it up, and it's the first time I could actually read the Bible and it made some sense. I started right in the beginning of Genesis. It wasn't like 'fall asleep in 30 seconds.' I just began to read."
With his newfound faith, Tyree was eventually able to climb out of the cellar he'd put himself in. "Within the moment that I accepted Christ into my life," he explained, "within two weeks; I never drank, I never smoked…that was the first miracle in my life…"
