"In 'the old days' when you had multi-generations in the same house, you always knew you could go and talk to Grandma. It's perspective that we can offer."
(Oklahoma)—A group of grandmothers who meet regularly for prayer at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church are known as GEMs, or Grandmothers Expecting Miracles. Priscilla Davis, 61, started the group nearly a year ago, and said the name reflects their belief.
"We see miracles every day," said Joyce Chaffee.
According to a report in The Oklahoman, the women believe the whole family reaps the benefits of a praying granny.
Phyllis Morrow was quoted as saying a grandparent can offer a Godly perspective that only they can give because of their wisdom and life experiences. "In 'the old days' when you had multi-generations in the same house, you always knew you could go and talk to Grandma," she said. "It's perspective that we can offer."
