(Los Angeles, CA)—All three major television networks in the United States joined together on Friday night simultaneously broadcasting a telethon to raise money to help fight cancer with research.
Stand Up To Cancer aired in primetime for a commercial-free hour on ABC, NBC and CBS, and featured both presidential candidates, and celebrities and musicians such as James Taylor, Sheryl Crow, Jack Black, Jennifer Anniston and Keanu Reeves.
According to the ABC News report, the "unprecedented" simulcast reached into 170 countries and territories, and raised over $100 million toward finding a cure.
Lisa Paulsen, president of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, remarked, "On behalf of the Stand Up To Cancer leadership team, we are tremendously grateful to everyone who contributed to make this historic event a success. This money will go directly to funding the research programs necessary to defeat this insidious disease."
