The discovery is said to aid scholars in determining the borders of historical Jerusalem.

According to the AP report, the project is a continuation of a dig first started by American archaeologist Frederick Bliss and assistant, Archibald Dickie.
The latest effort uncovered "part of a wall built by the Hasmonean dynasty 2,100 years ago, and another section built by Byzantine rulers five centuries later," said the AP.
