The Gospel vs. an AK-47—the Gospel wins!
(Ethiopia)—Mission Network News records an incredible story from the WorldServe Ministries team about a church planter in Ethiopia who journeyed to a hostile village to preach the Gospel.
The itinerant church planter, who only had one leg, entered a village that had been broken down by violence and feuding. Although he was apparently met with disdain and suspicion, he felt led to preach about Jesus to those he encountered.
One man, upon hearing the Good News, decided to come back the next day with his "gang." True to his word, the villager returned with his peers, but when one in particular heard what the church planter had to say, he became irate.
With his AK-47 rifle gripped tightly in his hands, the angry villager purposed to put an end to the man who spoke about Jesus. According to the report, he "stormed into the area where the church planter was speaking."
Instead of running away, the minister "boldly and compassionately shared the Word of God with the man who sought to take his life."
His heart melted by the Holy Spirit, the villager lowered his rifle. Instead of killing the church planter, "the man received Christ as his Savior that day."
