"We say, 'come to D.C. and serve your nation in prayer.'"
(Washington, D.C.)—The Washington Times has published a report on the Justice House of Prayer (JHOP), a four-year-old ministry on Capitol Hill "strategically placed in an arrow-shaped room that points toward the Supreme Court two blocks away." The ministry is driven by young people who are committed to praying for their country day and night.
Notes reporter Julia Duin: "JHOP attracts dozens of interns who get training at a Kansas City church, then live in Washington where, for $400 a month, they share housing and spend their days studying the Bible, praying for the country or demonstrating against abortion at the base of the court steps."
Paul Amabile, head of the ministry, says "We say, 'Come to D.C. and serve your nation in prayer."
According to the report, the JHOP'ers pray for a variety of issues, particularly the end of abortion. As far as praying for the upcoming elections, Amabile would only say, "We're praying God will give us His No. 1 choice."
**Note: JHOPers will be active this weekend as TheCall DC comes to the National Mall. If you cannot join them in person to pray, you can watch TheCall DC as it's carried on GOD.TV. CLICK HERE for more information.
