"How we manage our money says a lot about how we feel about God. When you are worried about money, you can't be free."
(Sacramento, Ca.)—According to a report in the Sacramento Bee, David and Maura Reza are in danger of losing their home. The couple has five children whom—with the help of Biblical financial training from their church—they are currently training to manage their money "God's" way. The training they receive emphasizes paying off debt, saving and tithing.
"The important thing to remember is that all of this," says David as he distributes their weekly allowance, is that everything we own "belongs to God."
"I know what we're doing is the right thing, and it's important that we are better examples for our children," says Maura . "But we have a long, long way to go."
"How we manage our money says a lot about how we feel about God," said Mark Eshoff, executive minister at Fremont Presbyterian Church, which has offered financial courses for several years. "When you are worried about money, you can't be free."
Pamela Christensen of Crown Financial Ministries agrees, saying people "hear about what the Bible said about debt and it makes a lot of sense."
