"I don't know what caused Jesse to go out there, but thank God."
(Lima, Ohio)—The AP has reported on the efforts of one man to combat drug use and crime in his city after he got fed up with seeing so many lives wasted. Jesse Lowe, 35, who cuts hair for a living, knows all about wasted lived. He is the son of a "junkie" who spent years in prison.
The report states that the day after hearing a man threaten to shoot someone over a drug deal, Lowe drove to a street corner near a school—also an infamous drug dealing location—and for about four hours held up a sign that read "Drugs Bring Death." He also prayed, "asking God to protect him and touch the hearts of the drug dealers glaring at him from across the street."
Drivers reportedly honked their horns, shouting "God bless you" and "About time someone stood up." A week later, 15 people stood with him at another intersection in the same neighborhood.
"I don't know what caused Jesse to go out there, but thank God," said Pastor Bob Horton.
