"This is a critical time for our nation, and the American people deserve to hear both candidates speak from the heart."
(California, USA)?According to a Citizen Link report, the very first time the two U.S. presidential candidates, John McCain and Barack Obama, will appear together is scheduled for Saddleback Church in California, where Rick Warren is pastor.
The forum is slated for August 16th, and will be viewable on the internet through Saddleback's website (CLICK HERE for more information).
"The primaries proved that Americans care deeply about the faith, values, character and leadership convictions of candidates as much as they do about the issues," explained Pastor Rick Warren, who will serve as moderator during the meeting. "This is a critical time for our nation, and the American people deserve to hear both candidates speak from the heart?without interruption?in a civil and thoughtful format absent the partisan ?gotcha' questions that typically produce heat instead of light."
Tom Minnery, senior vice president of Focus on the Family Action, commended the candidates for agreeing to the forum. "That says to me they understand how important men and women of faith are to their chances of winning the White House," he said.
