The quake, which was originally reported as 5.8, was later downgraded by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to 5.4. According to a CNN.com report, there have been no immediate reports of injury or damage.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 3 miles west-southwest of Chino Hills and 28 miles east-southeast of the Los Angeles Civic Center, which is in downtown Los Angeles.
