"…Faith is what he does. It's a profound, sad time... But the family is clinging to their faith and the assurance they will see Maria again."
According to a report in the Christian Post, the atmosphere at some of the latest concerts by Christian singer/songwriter, Steven Curtis Chapman, has been "beyond expectations."
Committee member Phil C. Giesken, told The Saginaw News that the popular artist had nearly 2,500 concert-goers "laughing and crying and praying and rocking, often at the same time." (Photo: Steven performs with one of his sons/StevenCurtisChapman.com)
Chapman had originally stopped touring after his youngest daughter, Maria—adopted from China—was tragically killed when accidentally hit by the family SUV driven by one of her brothers, in May.
Recently though, Steven returned to the road to finish out his U.S. tour schedule, foregoing his international dates in order to stay near to his family. Manager, Jim Houser explained, "We wanted to go forward and give him the opportunity to share his faith. Faith is what he does. It's a profound, sad time... But the family is clinging to their faith and the assurance they will see Maria again."
In his concert, Chapman expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayer and gifts from fans everywhere. The Christian Post reported that in just the first two weeks after Maria's death, there were contributions in excess of $310,000 to Maria's Miracle Fund, which was set up in honor of the little girl who had just celebrated her 5th birthday. The Miracle Fund—now with over $500,000 in donations—is part of the family's ongoing ministry, Shaohanna's Hope, which is designed to provide practical help in adopting orphans.
