"It's like an open history book of Jerusalem."
(Jerusalem)—Israeli archeologists have unearthed a monumental Second Temple structure they believe was Queen Helena's palace before it was demolished by the Romans in 70 AD. According to a Jerusalem Post report, the structure was discovered just outside the Old City's Dung Gate, indicating that the ancient City of David was much larger than previously thought. Queen Helena was a "wealthy Babylonian aristocrat who converted to Judaism and moved to Jerusalem with her sons, and became known for her generosity in helping the city's poor during a famine."
