His wife "gives God all the credit."
(Jackson, Mississippi)—Storeowner Donnie Register wasn't expecting to get robbed this weekend, at his shop; The Antique Market, in Jackson, Mississippi. But he also wasn't expecting such an amazing story of survival when he was confronted with one of the thieves' gun.
According to the AP report, two men, posing as customers, asked to see one of shop's coin collections, promptly producing a gun and demanding money, when Register brought out the display.
As one of the men fired a shot, Register put up his hand in reaction, his wedding ring deflecting the bullet. His wife, Darlene Register, explained, "The bullet managed to go through two of his fingers without severing the bone. A part of the bullet broke off and is in his middle finger. The other part is in his neck, lodged in the muscle tissue. But it's not life-threatening."
The report states that Darlene "gives God all the credit" for her husband's survival.
