"As we clean the city, we also want to clean our hearts. Kampala is the city of God. We are going to pray for all sections in our city. In fact, we just don't want to stop at praying, we also want to demonstrate change physically. Kampala can change and it will be for the benefit of everybody."
(Kampala, Uganda)—AllAfrica reports that The Covenant Nations Church, run by First-Daughter Patience Rwabwogo, has organized the second Kampala Annual City of God campaign. Over 350 pastors are reportedly mobilized for the campaign which will be held from December 5 - 7 and will include cleaning the city and praying for businesses and city leaders.
"As we clean the city, we also want to clean our hearts," said her husband, Odrek Rwabwogo, adding, "Kampala is the city of God. We are going to pray for all sections in our city. In fact, we just don't want to stop at praying, we also want to demonstrate change physically. Kampala can change and it will be for the benefit of everybody."
Rwabwogo was also quoted as saying that prayers would be conducted across town in the mornings and massive celebrations held at Kololo Airstrip in the evenings where Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and his wife will be in attendance.
During last year's campaign, the first of its kind, a prayer group went to the city council offices and prayed for the mayor and other officials. Of that experience, Hans Paulsen, the commercial manager for Uganda Telecom, said: "Many people come to my office to ask for support for various campaigns but this was the first time people came to pray for me."
