"The cave is being called "one of the most significant discoveries ever made."
(Rome)—Who doesn't remember Romulus and Remus in high school World History? They were the mythical twins—purported to be the founders of Rome—who were abandoned by their parents, but found by a she-wolf who took them back to her cave and nursed them back to health. (Photo: Reuters:India)
Rome was purported to be founded on the site of the she-wolf's cave by Romulus who killed his twin brother over an argument about who would be Rome's first king.
Bizarre, irrational story, as many pagan myths are, but like it or not the story constitutes a major part of Roman history, and now, this week, Italian archaeologists believe they have found that cave near the ruins of the palace of Emperor Augustus on the Palantine hill.
"You can imagine our amazement, we almost screamed," said Professor Giorgio Croci, the head of the archaeological team working on the restoration of the Palatine hill overlooking the Roman forum, told a news conference.
Archaeologist Andrea Carandini is quoted as saying he was stunned by the find and called it "one of the most significant discoveries ever made."
I may be completely off base here, but I have seen the Lord speak too many times through strange and unusual events and discoveries to let this story slide by. Somehow (don't ask me how!) I believe that the Lord allowed this "unearthing" in Rome. Perhaps it will be just one piece of a prophetic puzzle. Perhaps it is a "sign" for Rome, or for the nation of Italy. Perhaps it is a sign—even a warning—for the international Church.
Regardless, tuck this little news item into your memory banks and watch as the days unfold and this story gains world-wide coverage.
