Backed financially by supporters in Russia, religious beliefs compelled the young couple to take the risk. Five blessings followed. Their bravery and conviction—and God's answer to prayers—speak volumes to the world.
(The U.K.)—Russian doctors told a 29-year-old music teacher (name withheld), who had "strong religious beliefs" that she should abort one or two of the female quintuplets she was carrying. Backed financially by a group of their native countrymen who supported them, instead of following the doctor's advice, the woman and her husband went to England to give all five of their daughters "a chance of life." This week, the Russian couple are the proud parents of five preemie baby girls.
According to a report in The Daily Mail, the staff at John Radcliffe Hospital where the babies were delivered "are said to be so 'delighted to be part of something so unusual' that they have volunteered to work extra shifts to care for the Russian babies."
Lawrence Impey, the consultant in fetal medicine in charge of the delivery, said: "Mother is recovering well and the babies are doing well...I'm very pleased to be able to help this delightful family."
