"There is nothing like riding across the nation to learn about the people of this country."
(Oregon)? When 48-year-old Bill Inman, and his wife Brenda (also 48), thought about pursuing their dream of traveling across the country on horseback, they meant to have a little more put away for the adventure. But the times brought on a sense of urgency that it was now or never, even though it would cost them their entire life savings. So Inman hopped on his thoroughbred-quarter horse mix, Blackie, and headed east; his wife following the pair in their pickup and trailer filled with provisions for the journey.
"The scenery in America is changing and I'm really proud we're taking a snapshot at slow motion of this time period, because 20 years from now it will be different," says Bill Inman.
He's gathering stories along the way, and shooting video of the trip for an intended documentary. Inman talks about the many good people he's met already, and that he "hasn't run into any bad people."
Inman adds, "There is nothing like riding across the nation to learn about the people of this country." According to the AP report, the rancher has so far ridden through Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and most of Kansas, on his way to North Carolina. To read more, follow the link.
