Government official says he believes there are "compassion clusters" across the country.
(Indianapolis, Indiana)—According to the IndyStar, a White House official has said the state of Indiana has become "one of the national leaders in bringing faith-based groups and nonprofits into the equation for solving problems that government cannot fix alone." (Photo: Jay Hein, The White House)
Those comments came this week as nonprofit leaders from Indiana and across the country convened in Indianapolis for a conference designed to help faith-based representatives hone their skills.
Speaking at the conference, Gov. Mitch Daniels applauded faith-based groups, churches and other nonprofits for the work they have done in the state.
Jay Hein, the national director of Faith-Based and Community initiatives is quoted as saying he believes there are "compassion clusters" across the country where people are particularly willing to help their neighbors. He puts Indiana in that category.
