Mrs. Aydin returned to village where murder took place and visited with her Muslim neighbors. "It took so much energy, and it was so painful, but Jesus would not let me dodge this last opportunity."
(Istanbul, Turkey)—On April 18th of this year, Turkish Christians Necati Aydin, Ugur Yuksel and German Christian Tilmann Geske were brutally martyred for their faith in Malatya, Turkey. The news of their horrific murder reverberated throughout the world.
Semse Aydin, Necati's widow, spoke recently at memorial service near Istanbul to her husband's Zirve Publishing Company colleagues. She did not mince words about the pain she and her children feel every day at the loss of her husband.
Remembering when her husband first openly confessed his conversion to Christ, Semse said, "I was afraid for his life, and that he would renounce Jesus. So I told the Lord I would give him up, that I would sacrifice our marriage. I prayed that the Lord would just keep Necati for Himself, not for me. Now, God has taken him back. He is the One who gives and takes away. So how can I be angry with the God who is over everything?"
According to a Compass Direct report, while returning to Malatya to retrieve her belongings after her husband's death, Semse visited with her Muslim neighbors, "once again testifying to them of the love and forgiveness she had found in Christ. She gifted each one with a New Testament, and a copy of her husband's letter to his family explaining why he had become a Christian."
"It took so much energy, and it was so painful, but Jesus would not let me dodge this last opportunity," she is quoted as saying.
