Scholar Believes Ancient Seal Was Queen Jezebel's
The name "Yzbl" is reportedly inscribed upon it in ancient Hebrew, and it is believed that the infamous queen possessed her own seal so that she could operate independently of her husband Ahab.
(Jerusalem)—Holland's Utrecht University Old Testament scholar and Protestant minister Dr. Marjo Korpel, has concluded that an ancient seal that was discovered in Israel more than 40 years ago must have belonged to Queen Jezebel. The name "Yzbl" is reportedly inscribed upon it in ancient Hebrew, and it is believed that the infamous queen possessed her own seal so that she could operate independently of her husband Ahab. "You can never say 100 percent sure, but I am 90% sure," Korpel told the Jerusalem Post in a telephone interview from the Netherlands.
According to the report, the seal will go on display at the Israel Museum in 2010 when renovation work at the museum is completed.
