"I have faith in God, I have faith in prayer...I prayed and others prayed for me, and I think that's the reason I was found. I am a miracle."
(Portland, Or.)—Doris Anderson is the 76-year-old woman who survived 13 days in the Oregon wilderness in August after being lost from her husband on a hunting trip. Now, for the first time, she has spoken publicly about her experience on the TODAY show. (Photo: MSNBC.com)
Speaking with co-host Meredith Vieira, Anderson explains what happened to her during those 13 days, stressing that her survival was as miraculous as people thought it must be.
When she was asked if her faith played a part, she said, it had "everything" to do with her survival.
"I have faith in God, I have faith in prayer...I prayed and others prayed for me, and I think that's the reason I was found. I am a miracle," she said.
As for Doris' husband, Harold, he won't be hunting again anytime soon. "No more hunting," he said. "I'm spending the rest of my time with my wife until I am gone from this earth."
